I think every Latitude fan should have one: a separate mediabay (aka multibay). You can mount anything in it
that has a 44 pin ATA connector, such as
- 2.5" HDD
- SD to HDD convertor card
- CF to HDD convertor card
- Home made electronics
Below are some pictures of the mediabay adaptor.
Mediabay backside
As you see, this looks just like the backside of a CD-ROM drive. But it isn't.
Mediabay topside
And this is the topside that seems to be identical to a CD-ROM drive as well.
Mediabay opened
The lid is off. There's a hole in the interior of the mediabay.
Mediabay exposed
As you see: a lot of space to accept any kind of gadget.
Mediabay connector
This is the 44 pin ATA connector which is typical for 2.5" harddisks. If your gadget fits this connector (and
fits the rectangular cavity) then you can use it.
Mediabay filled with notebook harddisk
One example of use: as a caddy to mount an extra harddisk (for maintenance, backup, you name it).
