Buy a webshop

If you can hire a webshop at €60 per month (over €700 per year), it would be cost efficient to buy one for €400. It would still be a risk but a calculated one. Browsing the web I ran into several commercial webshops but of course many of them required some obscure operating system I occasionally see at strange places. Something with doors or panes or other openings in the wall.

But to cut things short: count on something like €2000 for a modest webshop. Out of my budget. And most of them would be PHP based anyway.

The affordable webshop

Last sunday, while looking for CGI function calls, I ran into a very interesting webshop concept: http://www.datalogica.nl/. The site is in dutch but it doesn't harm if you master this language. The dutch bought New York State from the native indians for €25 (VAT included, of course), so we are an important nation!

Still, the datalogica webshop looks fine, especially at this price: €49! A onetime fee! If you buy their professional E-mail script (so you don't need any 'mailto' tags in your site anymore) you get another €10 rebate!

The datalogic webshop does not require hundreds of files to maintain. Neither does it require any version of SQL. Datalogic runs with just these files:
